Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture

"Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture" is being organized by the Postgraduate Department of Mathematics. Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib who has rendered outstanding service for a long period of 31 years at Farook College as Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics, has crucial role in higher education initative of students of Malabar, particularly in the study of Mathematics.

The first lecture was held in 1998 in connection with the celebration of fortieth anniversary of the Postgraduate Department of Mathematics and the fiftieth anniversary of the college. From the second Lecture onwards, a Memorial Gold Medal in memory of Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib, instituted by his family, is being awarded each year to the rank holder in M.Sc. Mathematics Examination conducted by the University of Calicut and workshop for

the benefit of the students of Mathematics of various colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut is also being organized. The Post graduate Department of Mathematics receives overwhelming support of the members of Prof. Beeran Sahib's family for this collaborative venture.

Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture 2010-11

Thirteenth "Professor N.V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture" was held at Farook College on 21^st December 21010 under the auspices of the Postgraduate Department of Mathematics. Dr. C.P Abubacker, Associate Professor of Mathematics in Paine College, Augusta, Georgia, USA delivered the Memorial Lecture on "Proof Techniques". On this occasion Memorial Medal in memory of Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib, instituted by the family of Beeran Sahib, was presented by Prof. U Mohammed, Former Principal of Farook College to Miss Sangeetha M.V., the first rank holder in M.Sc. Mathematics Examination June 2010 conducted by the University of Calicut. Prof. A. Kuttialikutty, Principal chaired the function. Prof. U. Mohamed, Former Principal commemorated Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib in his felicitation speech. Prof. T. Kunheedu, HoD of the department of Mathematics welcomed the gathering and Prof. V. Kunhimon, programme convener proposed vote of thanks.

In this connection, a two-day workshop on "Python Programming and Latex" for Mathematics students of the colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut was also conducted on 20^th & 21^st December 2010. Prof. M.V. Sathyan, Department of Mathematics, Govt. Arts & Science College, Kozhikode and Prof. Saji Mathew, Department of Mathematics, St. Joseph College, Devagiri, Calicut were the resource persons in the workshop.

Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture 2009-10

The twelfth Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture was held at Farook College on 31, December 2009. Dr. A.J. Parameswaran, Director, Kerala School of Mathematics, Kozhikode delivered the Memorial Lecture on "Indian Legacy in Mathematics".

On this occasion Memorial Gold Medals in memory of Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib, instituted by his family, was presented to the first rank holder in M.Sc. Mathematics Examination 2008 and 2009 conducted by the University of Calicut. Jb. K.Kunhalavi, Joint Secretary, Farook College Managing Committee gave away the Gold Medals to Ms Ramya of Govt. College, Chottor (2008 batch) and ms. Alphy Jos of A.M. of St. Marys College, Thrissur(2009 batch)

In this connection, a two-day workshop on 'Python Programming and Latex' for second semester B.Sc. Mathematics students of the colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut was also conducted on 31st December 2009 and 1st january 2010 as part of the programme. Mr. T.K Rajan, Department of Mathematics, govt. victoria College, Palakkad and Mr. K.P. Priyadarshan,Department of Mathematics, CKG College, Perambra, Dr. K.K. Abdullah, Department of Physics, Farook College and Dr. P.A. Subha, Department of Physics, Farook College were the resource persons in the workshop.

Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture 2008-09

The eleventh Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture was held at Farook College on 3, December 2008. Sr.(Dr.) Germina, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Mary Matha College, Mananthavady delivered the Memorial Lecture on "Discrete Mathematics and Its Application".

On this occasion the Memorial Gold Medal in memory of Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib, instituted by his family, was presented to the first rank holder in M.Sc. Mathematics Examination 2007 conducted by the University of Calicut. Mrs. P. Kadeeja (wife of Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib) gave away the Gold Medal to Vigi A.M. of St. Marys College, Thrissur.

In this connection, a two-day workshop on 'Real Analysis' for Mathematics students of the colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut was also conducted on 3^rd and 4^th December 2008 as part of the programme. Mr. E.M. Chendrahasan, HoD of Mathematics, CIT, Vadakara , Dr. Muraleedharan, Department of Mathematics, St. Joseph Devagiri College, Calicut and Dr. K. Sudheer, Department of Mathematics, Farook College were the resource persons for the workshop. In addition to this, a separate session on 'Career Prospects for Mathematics Students' was also engaged by Mr. O. Shafeeque, Chief Career Councilor, CIGI, Calicut.
