2010-11
  • "MathsPlus" Mathematics Quiz:  "MathsPlus" Mathematics Quiz Cometition was held at Farook College on 13, October 2010.   Farook college, Calicut stood first in the competition and bagged the Ever Rolling Trophy  and a cash award of Rs. 2000/- .  Department of Mathematics, Univeristy of Calicut and Sree Narayans Guru College, Chelannur won the second and third positions respectively in the competition. Nine colleges participated in the competition.  Other colleges fielded their teams are Providence College, Calicut, Govt. Arts & Science College,  Calciut, T.M.Govt. College, Tirur, Malabar Christain College, Calciut C.K.G. Memorial Govt. College, Perambra and Majlis Arts and Science College, Puramannnur.   Dr. Sunil Mathew, Department of Mathematics, Natiional Institute of Technology, Kozhikode was the quiz master in the competition.
  • Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture 2010-11:  The thirteenth Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture was held at  Farook  College on December 21, 2010. Dr. C.P. Abubucker, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Paine College, Georgia, USA delivered the Memorial Lecture on "Proof Techniques".

  • Presented Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Medal to the rank holder:  Prof. N.V. BeeranSahib  Memorial Gold Medal, instituted by his family, were presented to the first rank holder in M.Sc. Mathematics Examinations June 2010 conducted by the University of Calicut at a meeting held on Ecember 21, 2010.  Prof. U. Mohammed, Foremer Prinipal and Member of  Farook Training College managing Committee gave away the Gold Medal to Miss Sangeetha M.V. of St. Joseph's College, Devagiri, Kozhikode

  • Workshop conducted:  A two-day workshop on 'Python Programming and Latex' for Mathematics students of the colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut was conducted on 20th & 21st December 2010.  About seventy five students participated in the workshop. Prof. M.V. Sathyan, Department of Mathematics, Govt. Arts & Science College, Kozhkode and Prof. Saji Mathes, Department of Mathematics, St. Joseph' College, Devagiri, Kozhikode were the resource persons in the workshop. 

  • Seminar Conducted: A National Seminar on "Recent Trends in Group theory and Graph Theroy" was held on February 24, 2011 as a part of College Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.  Dr. A.J. Parameswaran, Director of Kerala School of Mathematics, Kozhikode, Dr. Raji Pilakkot, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Department of Mathematics, Univeristy of Calciut, Dr. K.S. Nisar, Fellow, Aligarh Muslim University and Mr. Shabeed K.C. of IV semester M.Sc. Mathematics, Farook College were the resource person in the seminar.  Dr.  A.J. Parameswaran handled the topic "Group Theory", Dr. Raji Pilakkot "Graph Theory", Dr. K.S. Nisar "A Study of Polynomials and Umbral Calculus" and Mr. Shabeed K.C. took the topic "Stability of Linear Systems Using Laplace Transforms".

  • Presented Cash Awards to the top scorers in the college in B.Sc. Mathematics Examination  March  2010 & M.Sc. Mathematics Examination June 2010: A Cash Awards instituted by the Department of Mathematics was presented to Ms. Rabeeha Shabeeh, the top scorer in the college in B.Sc. Mathematics Examination March 2010 and Ms. Raheena the top scorer in the college in M.Sc. Mathematics Examination June 2010. Adv. V. veeran, Manager, Farook Training College gave away the Cash Award at a function held in the college seminar hall on February 24, 2011.

  • Workshop "Linython" Conducted:   A workshop "Linython" on Linux and Python for college teachers was conducted on 6 February 2011 as a College Diamond  Jubilee  Celebrations. Prof. C.V. Ramesan, Associate Professor, S.N. College, shrornur and Prof. K.P. Priyadarsan,  Associate Professor, Govt C.K.G. College, Perambra were the resource persons.  The topic "Introduction to GNU/ Linux" was handled by Prof. C.V. Ramesan  and Prof. K.P. Priyadarsan,  Associate  Professor, Govt C.K.G. College, Perambra took the topic "Python for Education".  Twenty teachers from various colleges and seven students of Farook College participated in the workshop.

2009-10

  • Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture 2009-10:  The twelfth Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture was held at  Farook  College on December 31, 2009. Dr.A.J. Parameswaran, Director, Kerala School Mathematics, Kozhikode delivered the Memorial Lecture on "Indian Legacy in Mathematics".

  • Presented Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Medal to the rank holders:  Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib  Memorial Gold Medal, instituted by his family, were presented to the first rank holders in M.Sc. Mathematics Examinations 2008 and 2009 conducted by the University of Calicut at a meeting held on Ecember 31, 2009.  Jb. K. Kunhalavi, Joint Secretary, Farook College managing Committee gave away the Gold Medal to Miss Ramya P. of Govt College, chittor (examination 2008) and Miss Alphy Jose of St.Marys College, Thrissur (examination 2009)
  • Workshop conducted:  A two-day workshop on 'Python Programming and Latex' for the second semester B.Sc. Mathematics students of the colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut was conducted on 31st December 2009 and 1st Janaury 2010.  About seventy five students participated in the workshop. Mr. T.K. Rajan Department of Mathematics, Govt. Victoria College, Palakkad, Mr. K.P. Priyadarsan, Department of Mathematics, CKG College, Perambra, Dr. k.K. Abdullah, Department of Physics, Farook College and Dr. P.A. Subha, Department of Physics, Farook College were the resource persons in the workshop. 
  • Mathematics Department Computer Lab inaugurated:  The Department Computer Lab was inaugurated by Prof. M. Gopinath, Former Head of the Department  of Mathematics, Farook College at a function held in the college seminar hall on December 17, 2009. The lab was set with the assistance of UGC under BSR.
  • Presented Cash Award to the top scorer in the college in B.Sc. Examination March 2009: A Cash Award instituted by the Department of Mathematics was presented to Mrs. Rahida, the top scorer in the college in B.Sc. Mathematics Examination March 2009. Prof. K. M. Ramakrishnan Former Head of the Department of Mathematics, Farook College gave away the Cash Award at a function held in the college seminar hall on December 17, 2009.
  • Department Website launched:  Prof. T. Balakrishnan Nair Former Head of the department of Mathematics, Farook College launched the Department Website ( www.maths.farookcollege.ac.in) at a function held in the college seminar hall on December 17, 2009.

2008-09

  • Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture 2008-09:  The eleventh Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture was held at  Farook  College on 3rd December, 2008. Sr.(Dr.) Germina, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Mary Matha College, Mananthavady delivered the Memorial Lecture on "Discrete Mathematics and Its Application".
  • Presented Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Medal to the rank holder:  Prof. N.V. Beeran Sahib  Memorial Gold Medal, instituted by his family, was presented to the first rank holder in M.Sc. Mathematics Examinations 2007 conducted by the University of Calicut at a meeting held on December 3, 2008.  Mrs. P. Kadeeja (wife of Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib) gave away the Gold Medal to Vigi A.M. of St. Marys College, Thrissur. 
  • Workshop conducted:  A two-day workshop on 'Real Analysis' for Mathematics students of the colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut was  conducted on 3rd and 4th December 2008.  About seventy five students participated in the workshop. Mr. E.M. Chendrahasan, HoD of Mathematics, CIT, Vadakara ,  Dr. Muraleedharan, Department of Mathematics, St. Joseph Devagiri College, Calicut and Dr. K. Sudheer, Department of Mathematics, Farook College were the resource persons for the workshop. In addition to this, a separate session on 'Career Prospects for Mathematics Students' was also engaged by Mr. O. Shafeeque, Chief Career Councilor,  CIGI, Calicut. Mr. V. Kunhimon was the convenor for organising the programme.
  • "MathsPlus" Mathematics Quiz:  "MathsPlus" Mathematics Quiz Cometition was held atFarook College on 19, November 2008.   Govt.  Arts & Science College, Calicut stood first in the completion and bagged the Ever Rolling Trophy  and a cash award of Rs. 2000/- .  Malabar Christian College, Calicut and Govt. T.M. G. College, Tirur won the second and third positions respectively in the competition. Thirteen teams from eleven colleges participated in the competition.  Other colleges fielded their teams are Providence College, Calicut, Farook College, St. Joseph Devagiri College, calicut, W.M.O. college, Muttil, P.S.M.O. College, Tirurangadi, S.N. College, Chelennur, Zamorin Guruvayoorappan College, Calicut and N.A.M.M. College, Manassery. Dr. T. Reji, Department of Mathematics, Govt. College, Chittoor was the quiz master for the competition.
