World Rivers’ Day is a celebration of the world’s waterways. It highlights the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness and encourages the improved stewardship of rivers around the world. In connection with world river Department of Zoology in association with CANOPY Nature club organized a talk on the Rivers of Kerala – Threats and Management Issues by Dr. Martin Gopurathingal, Researcher, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Science (KUFOS), Kochi on 27 September 2016 at Audio Visual Theatre, Farook College. While addressing the audience he emphasized the need to conserve our rivers and also presented how river periyar is getting polluted.
Ms. Shabana T.P., Head, Department of Zoology presided over the function, Dr. H. Habeebrehman, Coordinator, Canopy Nature Club welcomed the gathering and Ahmed Saleel, Student Convener, Canopy Nature Club proposed the vote of thanks.
