The prestigious 12-day NCC National Integration Camp will be organised at Farook College, Kozhikode by NCC Directorate (Kerala & Lakshadweep) under the aegis of NCC Group Head Quarters, Kozhikode by 29 Kerala Battalion NCC Calicut University from 22 December 2017 to 02 January 2018. 600 cadets and 100 officials including 21 Associate NCC Officers from entire India of 17 NCC Directorates will participate in the Camp. Foreign cadets from Maldives will participate in the camp as part of Youth Exchange Programme. It is first time in the history that foreign cadets attend National Integration Camp. The presence of foreign cadets will enhance the socio-cultural awareness and appreciations of two nations. The aim of the camp is to foster National Integration and to create awareness among the Cadets on diverse culture, history, customs and traditions of Kerala. The cadets would present art and cultural programmes unique to their States. Competitions for group songs, various dance items, traditional dress, and quiz would be held.
National Integration Camp brings the ideal of Indian citizenship to life of the youth in the Country. This camp gives hundreds of young cadets to experience life in other cultures and gain new understanding of the Nation. Cultural events and competitions will be the cynosure in the camp that would depict India’s unique cultural diversity and the richness of tradition. Participants are encouraged to use this opportunity to represent their home state and share their own culture while learning and embracing a new one, forging the way to becoming young ambassadors for peace and National understanding. Programs of the camp include visits to places of Cultural and Natural interest, cultural rally, Kerala day celebrations, Inter Directorate traditional dress competition, presentation of Kalarippyattu, Mohiniyyatom, Bharathanaatyam, Daffmuttu, Kolkali, Theme Dance etc.
Myriads of arts forms will be staged, thus help integrate various cultures into one and reaffirm the unity in diversity of this great nation. Dance performances like Jagoi of Manipur, Rouff of Jammu and Kashmir, Giddha of Punjab, Garbha of Gujarat, Chhau of West Bengal, Bihu of Assam, Bardo Chham of Arunachal Pradesh, Raut Nacha of Chhattisgarh, Fudgi of Goa, Ghoomar of Rajasthan, Nati of Himachal Pradesh, Grida of Madhya Pradesh will be displayed in the camp.
NIC provides physical training followed by sessions on soft skills and leadership training. Special sessions on preparation for a career in Armed Forces and guest lectures by various experts on different topics will also be given.
Honourable Minister of Education Prof C Raveendranath will inaugurate the camp. Honourable Minister of Labour and Excise TP Ramakrishnan will be the Chief Guest in the valedictory session. Major General Anoop Kumar Additional Director General Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate will be the Guest of Honour. PV Abdul Wahab MP, MK Raghavan MP, V.K.C. Mammed Koya MLA, Dr K Muhammed Basheer (Vice Chancellor, University of Calicut), Amit Meena IAS (Collector Malappuram District), Snehil Kumar Singh IAS (Assistant Collector Kozhikode District), Brigadier Charan Bir Singh, Col N Kumar, Merin Joseph IPS (Deputy Commissioner of Kozhikode), Dr P Vijayaraghavan (Syndicate Member, University of Calicut), Olympian Diju (Arjuna Award winner), Kamal Varadoor (Al Jazeera Excellence Award winner) etc has kindly accepted to be a part of the camp.
