Mr. Muhammed Jamsheer, an alumnus of Dept .of Botany, Farook College (2005-08) has received a Short Term Fellowship of European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) for three months research in the laboratory of Dr. Lyuba Ryabova, Institut de Biologie Moléculaire des Plantes* (IBMP), Strasbourg, France.
He is also receiving an internship grant for the same project from the French National Center for Scientific Research (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, CNRS) which is the largest governmental research organisation in France.
During the Ph.D. tenure at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi with Dr. Ashverya Laxmi, the research team identified a novel class of plant-specific class of Zinc finger proteins.
Mr. Muhammed Jamsheer hails from Chettippadi near Parappanangadi of Malappuram dist.
After graduation in Botany from Farook College he completed M.Sc. Botany from Aligarh Muslim University. He qualified for JRF during final year of post graduation and joined NIPGR New Delhi for research.
While at Farook College he was an active member of NCC. He also represented the Botany Association in the College Students Union. He has participated in various quiz competitions and won prizes for the College.
